Nikki Gil engaged to non-showbiz boyfriend

MANILA, Philippines – After weeks of speculation over Nikki Gil wearing what looked like an engagement ring as seen in her photos, the singer-host finally confirmed yesterday that she has been engaged to non-showbiz boyfriend, businessman BJ Albert.

“I am confirming it. Yes, I got engaged last year. I’m very happy. I’m very, very happy,” Nikki said in a television interview as she showed her ring.

Nikki and her one-year boyfriend BJ has been set to get married this year. The 27-year-old celebrity surprised the public as she was always discreet about their relationship.

Now, Nikki believed that it was the right time to share the good news to everyone. She admitted that BJ proposed to her on December 13, 2014, that is ‘12-13-14.’

“First, he asked my parents, siyempre. Then, may pakulo na may corporate event ako. And then, pagdating doon, he asked. When I said yes at medyo nag-sink in na sa akin, all of my friends came out,” Nikki recalled.

Months after Nikki broke up with co-star Billy Crawford, she gave a second chance at love with entrepreneur BJ. The two were rumored to be in a relationship since last year.

Last July, Nikki admitted dating ‘special friend’ BJ. And just the previous month on her MYX news program, she exclaimed that BJ was ‘the one’ and her ‘source of joy.’ In the same month, Nikki also shared a photo of her and boyfriend BJ seated beside each other.

“God has his own timetable. He has his own timeline. Meron talaga siyang kwentong inihanda for me. I’m just so happy that I listened, and it came to pass,” she said in an interview.

After hosting the recent Wonderful World of Globe event on Wednesday, Nikki was asked by the entertainment press about her rumored engagement. The singer-host, however, refused to give a statement.

Still, Nikki’s Instagram photos provided clues of her walking down the aisle soon. Her followers noticed that her purity ring was different from the one she wore in her ring finger.

It was also visible in her upcoming album cover photo and in her Europe trip photos.

The Kapamilya star joined the celebrity wedding bandwagon as Toni Gonzaga, Solenn Heussaff, Yeng Constantino, Isabel Oli and Heart Evangelista earlier announced their marriage plans this year.
