MANILA – The Archdiocese of Manila has designated 24 churches as “Jubilee Churches” in connection with the celebration of “Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025″ declared by Pope Francis.

According to Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula, these churches, shrines, and “sacred places” in Metro Manila were chosen by the Presbyteral Council and the ad hoc committee on the Archdiocesan Celebration of Jubileo Taong 2025, in preparation for the religious event next year and taking into account the needs of the faithful as well as the opportunity to nourish the pious desire to obtain the Indulgence.

“May I inform you that we have considered designating your church as one of the Jubilee Churches according to the sectors indicated in the calendar of the Jubilee celebration in Rome,” he said in a circular dated Aug. 30 and made public on Monday.

He also said the proposed Jubilee Churches will be the “gathering points for pilgrims and activities, in relation to the respective sectors, to help people rediscover the true meaning of the Holy Year, especially through catechesis and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.”

The following have been designated as Jubilee Churches: EDSA Shrine (Our Lady of EDSA) in Quezon City for government officials and workers, armed forces, police, and security personnel; Chapel of St. Lazarus in San Lazaro Hospital, Manila City for the sick, healthcare workers, and people with disabilities; San Felipe Neri Parish in Mandaluyong City for teenagers, youth, and students; Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño, Manila City for children; Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Loreto, Manila for families, grandparents, and elderlies; and National Shrine of the Sacred Heart, Makati City for entrepreneurs and business owners.

Also on the list are San Jose de Trozo Parish, Manila City for workers and laborers; San Ildefonso Parish, Makati City for young adults and professionals; Saint John Bosco Parish, Makati City for artists, musical bands, and athletes; San Fernando de Dilao Parish, Manila City for educators; Archdiocesan Shrine of Espiritu Santo, Manila City for confraternities, ecclesial movements, associations, and new communities; San Carlos Seminary, Makati City for seminarians, deacons, priests, bishops, consecrated persons, and missionaries; and Minor Basilica and National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz, Manila City for catechists and voluntary workers.

The National Shrine of the Our Lady of the Abandoned, Manila City for poor and orphans; Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Pasay City for prisoners and their families; National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Makati City for ecumenical and inter-faith; Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guia, Manila City for migrants and refugees; San Pablo Apostol Parish, Manila City for ecology; and Landmark Chapel, Makati City for digital communicators, will also serve as Jubilee Churches.

Also chosen as Jubilee Churches are The Manila Cathedral; National Shrine of Saint Jude Thaddeus; Quiapo Church; National Shrine of Saint Michael & The Archangels; and Minor Basilica of San Sebastian, all located in Manila.

The archdiocese said the churches and shrines will be planning the activities that are related to the Jubilee Celebration in Rome.

“These Jubilee Churches will organize and make available for the people of God the following activities: catechesis, and regular celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation,” Advincula added.
