DepEd: F2F class suspension due to vog, haze affects 3.58M learners

MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday reported that 3.58 million learners at all levels have been affected by the face-to-face (F2F) class suspensions due to volcanic fog or vog from Taal Volcano in Batangas, and the pollutant-induced haze in Metro Manila.
F2F classes were suspended in various local government units in three regions on Aug. 19.
According to DepEd situational report No.
3, the Calabarzon region logged the highest number of affected learners reaching 2,850,095, followed by 730,336 in the National Capital Region and 5,992 in Mimaropa.
About 112,791 teaching and non-teaching personnel were also affected in the three regions.
Overall, 2,967 schools were affected – 254 in Metro Manila, 2,685 in Calabarzon, and 28 in Mimaropa.
Schools in Metro Manila and Mimaropa resumed F2F classes on Wednesday and Tuesday, respectively, while all 21 school divisions in Calabarzon have yet to determine their resumption of classes.
