Italy gives P26M financial assistance for Yolanda survivors

MANILA – The government of Italy pledged P26 million in financial assistance for survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda in the province of Iloilo.

The aid was under a memorandum of agreement recently signed by Iloilo Gov.

Arthur Defensor and Ambassador Massimo Roscigno to make sure that the survivors will be assisted towards recovery.

The said amount is on top of Italy’s initial P53-million donation to the country to assist Yolanda-devastated provinces.

Some parts of the aid will come through livelihood projects. These will be provided to affected communities in Tanauan in Leyte and Guiuan in Eastern Samar.

According to the provincial government, they will use the assistance to purchase fishery and agricultural equipment that will be given to agricultural co-ops.

Defensor noted that the ambassador’s wife is an Ilongga from the town of Mina.
