MANILA – The country will continue to experience warm and humid weather due to the easterlies, the weather bureau said on Sunday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said eight areas in the country will experience a 42°C to 43 °C heat index.

Areas with 42 °C heat index are Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Aparri and Tuguegarao in Cagayan, Dumangas in Iloilo, Zamboanga City, and Cotabato City while Puerto Princesa City and Aborlan in Palawan will experience 43 °C heat index.

Under its heat index classification system, PAGASA said areas with 42 to 51 °C heat index indices are in the “danger” category. It warned that continued exposure may result in heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

Northern Luzon and the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 24°C to 35°C; Baguio City, 17°C to 26°C; Laoag City, 26°C to 33°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 31°C; Metro Cebu, 27°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 26°C to 35°C.
