Around 31% of Filipinos support President Marcos- OCTA

MANILA – Almost one-third of adult Filipinos support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his administration, according to the latest OCTA Research survey released on Monday.

The First Quarter Tugon ng Masa Survey conducted from March 11 to 14 showed that around 31 percent of Filipinos support President Marcos and his government, while only 4 percent back the opposition.

The survey also revealed that 20 percent favor the Duterte family and their political allies.

About 29 percent of the respondents are considered independents who do not support the president and his administration, the Duterte family, and the opposition.

The remaining 15 percent said they did not know who to support or refused to answer.

President Marcos and his administration received the highest support from Filipinos living in Metro Manila at 43 percent.

At least 32 percent in Balance Luzon and 38 percent in Visayas support the President. Seventeen percent of Filipinos in Mindanao backed the Marcos administration.

Among socioeconomic classes, President Marcos and his administration have statistically similar levels of support from Filipinos belonging to Classes D and E at 32 percent and 30 percent, respectively, while only 27 percent of those coming from Class ABC.

In terms of age groups, support for Marcos and his administration is highest among those aged 55-64 at 39 percent, followed by those aged 45-54 at 35 percent.

Support for the current administration is lowest among the 18-24-year-old youth at 18 percent, followed by those aged 75 and above at 23 percent.

The pollster noted that the Duterte family and its allies got the support of at least half of Filipinos from Mindanao at 53 percent while getting slim support from Balance Luzon at around 7 percent.

Also, 18 percent of those from the Visayas and 14 percent from Metro Manila back the Duterte family and its allies.

Across socioeconomic classes, 30 percent of Filipinos falling under Class E support the Duterte family and its allies.

Only 19 and 14 percent of classes D and ABC are supportive of the Duterte family.

Support for Duterte family and its allies is highest among those aged 25-34 at 27 percent, followed by those aged 65 and 74 at 26 percent.

Support for the Dutertes is lowest among those aged 75 and above at 15 percent, followed by those aged 18-24 at 19 percent.

The survey was conducted among 1,200 respondents using face-to-face interviews.

It has a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level.
