MANILA — After appealing to the military and police not to stage a coup during his term, President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday appeared unfazed by the thought of being overthrown saying he was “tired” of being the country’s top official.

In a speech before new government appointees, Duterte said it was really up to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel if they wanted a change in the country’s leadership.

“Kung ituloy yang coup d’état ‘yan, e bahala kayo.

Ako, gusto ko na mag-uwi (If you want to proceed with the coup d’état, it’s up to you. Me, I just want to go home),” Duterte said.
