Houses damaged by ‘habagat,’ recent typhoons top 86K
MANILA – The number of houses damaged by the effects of the recent typhoons Egay and Falcon and the southwest monsoon (habagat) has climbed to 86,745, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Friday.
This number increased from the 82,787 reported on Aug. 15, the NDRRMC said in its latest situation report.
These houses are located in the regions of Ilocosn, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, Bangsamoro and Cordillera.
Of this figure, 81,371 were classified as “partially damaged” and 5,374 as “totally damaged.”
The number of reported fatalities remained at 30 with 12 confirmed so far.
Of the 171 injured, 152 were validated as of this time with nine persons reported missing and still undergoing validation.
Meanwhile, around 1,368,489 families or equivalent to 5,347,470 individuals were affected by these individuals.
According to the Office of Civil Defense, the affected families are a combination of those displaced and those not needing removal from their residence but whose livelihoods have been affected.
