Lady Eagles rally past Lady Spikers

MANILA – The Ateneo Lady Eagles showed the La Salle Lady Spikers on Sunday what they’re made of during an elimination game in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
The Lady Eagles took the last two sets away from the Lady Spikers. 25-22, 25-27, 16-25, 25-14, 15-9, to sweep the first round at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Just like their run last season, they relied on Alyssa Valdez’ power to make 7-0 record.
“The pressure is always there, but coach Tai (Thai coach Bundit) said just keep [on] trying,” said Valdez.
Valdez had a stellar performance with 26 points including 20 kills and three blocks.
La Salle tried to gain momentum after winning the third set, however, they failed to sustain their energy until the last.
In the first game, National University bested Adamson, 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 25-19, to land solo third with a 4-3 win-loss record.
