Storm’s damage reaches Php644-M — NDRRMC
MANILA – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday the damage caused by tropical storm “Seniang” to agriculture and infrastructure facilities has been placed at PhP 644,541,241.
The damage to infrastructure estimated at PhP69,762,500 and agriculture at PhP574,778,741 was reported in Regions 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), and 8 (Eastern Visayas) and the provinces of Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Compostela Valley and Bukidnon.
In its 8 a.m. Sunday update, NDRRMC said that 55 fatalities have been identified and validated by the Department of Health (DOH) in Regions 7, 8, 10 (Northern Mindanao), 11 (Davao Region) and 13 (Caraga).
There were 41 persons injured in Regions 6, 7, 8 and Caraga. Eight persons are still missing in Regions 7, 8, 10 and Caraga.
The NDRRMC said that 116,776 families or 543,816 persons were affected by “Seniang” in Regions 4-B (Mimaropa), 6, 7, 8, 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), 10, 11, and 13.
Meanwhile, as of Sunday, all seagoing trips that were suspended due to storm “Seniang” have resumed.
A total of 2,740 houses were damaged in Regions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and Caraga. Of these, 467 were totally destroyed.
The total cost of government assistance for the affected families in Regions 4-B, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and Caraga has reached PhP29,663,861, the agency said.
