Truck driver hailed X Factor UK champ

MANILA – Ben Haenow, a 29-year-old truck driver, emerged as the grand champion of the recently concluded 11th season of X Factor UK besting Fleur East in the finals.

Haenow was not an early favorite in the show.

However, he worked hard and proved his singing prowess and eventually brought home the crown.

Before the finals, he sang the following songs: “Demons,” originally by Imagine Dragons; “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson; and his own rendition of “Something I Need,” originally by One Republic.

Meanwhile, East also performed her own version of “Something I Need.” She also sang “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis; and “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

The finals were done in style as various artists from past seasons performed including One Direction. They went on stage together with Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones. Aside from the boy group, Olly Murs sang together with Demi Lovato. Grammy nominee Sam Smith also entertained the audience.
