Court orders transfer of Vhong Navarro to Taguig City jail
MANILA –The Taguig regional trial court has ordered the transfer of actor/television host Ferdinand “Vhong” H. Navarro to the Taguig City Jail, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Wednesday.
In a statement to newsmen, the NBI said it received the order issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 69 on Nov. 14, to commit Navarro to the male dormitory of Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Navarro will undergo a mandatory medical examination, including RT-PCR test before his transfer, in compliance with the health protocol requirements of the government.
In September, Taguig RTC Branch 69 Presiding Judge Loralie Datahan issued an arrest warrant against the actor on non-bailable rape charges filed by model Deniece Cornejo.
Cornejo sued Navarro for acts of lasciviousness and rape, which allegedly happened separately in January 2014.
Earlier, Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 116 Judge Angela Francesca Din found probable cause that led to the indictment of Navarro for acts of lasciviousness case and set a bail of PHP36,000.
Navarro surrendered to the NBI for the bailable case but was surprised when another arrest warrant was issued against him for rape.
The Court of Appeals ordered the filing of the rape and acts of lasciviousness cases after Cornejo’s complaints were dismissed by the Taguig City prosecutor’s office and the Department of Justice.
