No Filipinos hurt in Istanbul explosion: DFA
MANILA – No Filipinos were hurt during the explosion in Istanbul, Turkey which claimed six lives and injured 81 people, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Monday.
“So far, the Embassy and Consulate General have not received any report of Filipino casualties,” the DFA said in a statement.
The explosion happened on Sunday at Istanbul’s popular Istiklal Avenue.
The Philippine Embassy in Ankara and the Philippine Consulate General in Istanbul have expressed their condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the explosion.
“The DFA, through its Embassy and Consulate General in Turkey, will continue to monitor the situation and report to the department of any development accordingly,” the agency said.
Around 3,000 Filipinos are estimated to be in Istanbul.
This figure includes household service workers, spouses of Turkish nationals, expats working in foreign companies, and English teachers.
