MANILA, Philippines – Quezon City on Saturday launched the Quezon City International Pink Film Festival (QCIPFF), which will showcase films which focus primarily on the LGBT (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender) community.

Dubbed Asia’s biggest film festival of its kind, the QCIPFF kicked-off at the Trinoma Center, North EDSA on Monday; with ceremonies led by Quezon City mayor and former actor, Herbert Bautista.

“This festival shows that this city highlights the contribution of the LGBT community not only here in Quezon City but sa buong Pilipinas din (but to the entire Philippines). Ipapakita sa mga pelikulang ito ang mga karanasan at saloobin nila (These films will show their (LGBT) experiences and feelings.),” Mayor Bautista said.

The week-long festival highlights the premiere of Nick De Ocampo’s documentary-style film, #pinQCity; a story of an angel sent to Earth to observe what goes on in the city.

LGBT-themed movies from 14 foreign countries, as well as numerous gems from local directors will be screened at Trinoma’s Cinema 3 from December 9-16. Tickets are priced at P100 each.

Some tiles on the roster are Joel Lamangan’s Lihis, Alvin Yapan’s Gayda, Before You Know It (from the USA), Love Next Door (Thailand), and Lovely Man (Indonesia).
