DOH logs 693 more cases of 2 Omicron subvariants

MANILA – The country has detected 693 more cases of two Omicron subvariants of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health (DOH) reported Tuesday.
The DOH said 677 of the total count are BA.5 cases and 16 are BA.4 cases.
Of the 677 BA.5 cases, 50 are from the Ilocos Region; 75 are from Cagayan Valley; 37 are from Central Luzon; 15 are from the Bicol Region; 104 from Western Visayas; 18 from Central Visayas; one from Eastern Visayas; 25 from Zamboanga Peninsula; two from Northern Mindanao; two from the Davao Region; 54 from Soccsksargen; 56 from Region 4-A (Calabarzon); 17 from Region 4-B (Mimaropa); six from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao; 73 from Cordillera Administrative Region; 16 from Caraga; 126 from the National Capital Region (NCR).
About 11 are returning overseas Filipinos.
For the 16 additional BA.4 cases, one is from the Bicol Region; one is from Central Visayas; 12 from Soccsksargen; and two from the NCR.
All the reported cases are based on the latest genome sequencing results from Sept. 16 to 19.
