San Miguel welcomes Cabagnot, Mercado returns to Globalport
MANILA – Top-seed San Miguel Beer once again signs up former guard Alex Cabagnot and gives back Sol Mercado to Globalport on Wednesday in a trade.
Aside from getting back Cabagnot,
the team also gives up its 2018 and 2019 second round picks. The trade, which surprised the league, was approved by Commissioner Chito Salud before the deadline.
Cabagnot averages 15.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists per game for Globalport – his best thus far in the 2015 PBA Philippine Cup.
Mercado, who is known for his scoring abilities, surprisingly averages only 6.2 per game with the Beermen.
Reports said that initially the Beermen wants to get Denok Miranda from Red Bull Barako. However, Salud rejected the deal.
With the Beermen’s recent win against Blackwater Elite, they are now sitting comfortably in the semifinals.
This will give Cabagnot a week to familiarize himself with his new team.
