Netflix Reveals Additional Cast and Exclusive Look Behind the Scenes of Upcoming Zombie Comedy Film ‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’
‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ tells the story of Akira Tendo, a young man who has the life sucked out of him by his power-harassing boss but one day wakes up to a zombie apocalypse and starts to pursue his ‘zombie apocalypse bucket list.’
The previously announced Eiji Akaso, who is taking on the lead role of Akira Tendo, will be joined by:
- Mai Shiraishi (former Nogizaka46, Stolen Identity 2, Usogui: Lie Eater) in the role of Shizuka. “Despite it being a zombie story on the surface, at its heart this is a coming-of-age story with lots of comedic elements,” says Shiraishi. “It was the first time for me to take on such a serious action role, but I was inspired by Shizuka’s strong character that boldly stands up for herself, so I tried to be as strong as her as I took on the challenge.”
- Shuntarô Yanagi (Rurouni Kenshin: The Final Chapter, Alice in Borderland) as Kenichiro ‘Kencho’ Ryuzaki, main protagonist Akira’s best friend. “When I read the script, I thought that this would be a zombie movie unlike anything I have ever seen before,” comments Yanagi. “What stuck with me was the way ‘Kencho’ gradually grows up, thanks to the support of his friends, and I was left wondering if he can overcome his past trauma in this new zombie world.”
- Kazuki Kitamura (Killers, The Raid 2) will be playing the role of Kosugi Gonzo, Akira’s boss. “Kitamura’s role as a harasser at the company is even more unpleasant than that of the zombies. If I were in the same situation as the protagonist, I might act in the same way,” says Kitamura on his role.
About Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead:
Akira Tendo (Eiji Akaso) works at an abusive company where he suffers endless late hours, power harassment from his boss, and illogical tasks. He spends his days feeling more dead than alive. One morning, the town is overtaken by zombies and the familiar landscape is already devastated. Seeing such destruction, Akira shouts with glee that he doesn’t need to go to the office anymore. Showing his innate positivity, Akira comes up with a list of 100 things he wants to do before he becomes a zombie.
