DepEd given 1 year to assess K-12 program: VP Sara
MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) has one year to review and assess the Kinder to Grade 12 (K-12) program, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte said on Tuesday.
In a post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) forum, Duterte said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. gave the timeline during their second Cabinet meeting last July 19.
“We were given by President Marcos, one year this school year, the school year 2022-2023, to give a final answer about our K-12 program here in the country,” she said.
She said they will adopt the previous administration’s Basic Education Development Plan, as the agency wraps up its review of the K-12 program, adding that the assessment on the Senior High School program will be done under her watch.
Duterte also said she is coordinating with the Department of Labor and Employment to improve the Philippine skills framework.
Earlier, Marcos expressed support for a curriculum review to address pressing issues such as job mismatch.
