32,552 persons now on pre-emptive evacuation in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY — There are now 32,297 persons with 6,642 families on pre-emptive evacuation in Iloilo province as of Saturday afternoon.
Pre-emptive evacuation was ordered by Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. since Thursday afternoon in an effort to attain zero casualty when Typhoon Ruby sweeps in early morning of Sunday until Wednesday.
The pre-emptive evacuation are implemented in the towns of Banate with 1,277 persons and 213 families; Dumangas with 508 persons with 136 families; San Dionisio with 2,760 persons and 460 families; Estancia with 2,764 persons and 643 families; Concepcion with 5,989 persons and 1,354 families; Lemery with 1,395 persons and 351 families; Ajuy with 4,697 persons and 1,034 families.
Barotac Viejo with 1,740 persons and 290 families; Carles with 8,179 persons and 1,716 families; San Dionisio with 2,532 persons and 422 families; Balasan with 711 persons and 159 families and Passi city with 639 persons and 154 families.
Batad, another coastal town in the province, has just also reported 121 families now on pre-emptive evacuation.
These families are now staying in the different evacuation centers considered to be safer grounds in their municipalities.
The evacuation centers are in the schools, day care centers, church, gym, barangay halls, and multi-purpose halls.
The Iloilo provincial government has made initial procurement of the relief goods to ensure that the evacuees have food supply while they are on evacuation.
