MANILA – The idea of losing to Vice President Jejomar Binay is not what scares Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

What really bothers him is the possibility that Binay will not continue the anti corruption reforms started by President Aquino’s administration, suppose the Vice President wins in the 2016 presidential elections.

When asked if he was worried about competing with Binay, Roxas said:

“I am bothered by the possibility that daang matuwid (straight path) will not continue.”

Roxas, however, said that he still believes that the Filipinos will choose wisely in the next elections.

“I think Filipinos are smart. I think Filipinos know what is in their best interest. I think Filipinos know what would be good choices,” he said.

Meanwhile, Binay was recently stormed by corruption allegations for his alleged involvement in the questionable projects of the Makati City government during his term as the city’s mayor.

While he insisted that the allegations were not true, several questionable projects including the Makati City Hall Building II and the alleged ill-gotten property in Batangas are still a subject of senate investigation.

Despite these allegations, political analysts still believe that it is unlikely that Roxas will still lose to Binay in the 2016 elections.

It could be noted that the Interior Secretary lost to Binay in the vice presidential during the 2010 elections.
