ANA’s Tokyo-bound flight returns to Manila for emergency landing due to smoke in cockpit

MANILA, Philippines—An All Nippon Airways flight bound for Tokyo with 192 people on board turned back to Manila Friday for an emergency landing after smoke billowed from its cockpit, officials said.

There were no injuries as Flight NH950 landed safely some 35 minutes after it departed, the Manila airport’s media office said.

Eric Apolonio, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, said two investigators were dispatched to the aircraft.

There was no word yet when the passengers will resume the trip.
