MANILA – Vice President Jejomar Binay said that he backed out his debate with Senator Antonio Trillanes which was initially scheduled on November 27.

“It’s final already. It won’t happen,” said Binay.

He added, “My reason for this is that I already heard many things. People were saying that I am good, I am a debater, I am a laywer. Those words are too much. I don’t want the people to think that I will use my advantages over him.

I don’t want the Filipino people to think that I will make a fool out of him and that I am using this against him. So I think that’s it.”

The Vice President also said that he was the one who first challenged Trillanes.

“I was the one who asked him for a debate. But with the way he deals with this right now, he talks a lot about what I have against him,” said Binay.

Meanwhile, Trillanes said that this confirmation from the Vice President only proves that he cannot keep his word.

“He cannot be trusted,” said Trillanes.

He also added that this is not the first time that Binay challenged people only to back down when the person calls his bluff.
