SB19 among nominees for Best Southeast Asia Act in 2021 MTV EMAs
Months after their historic nomination in the 2021 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), five-member P-pop group SB19 is vying again for another award, this time, in the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).
Pablo, Ken, Stell, Josh, and Justin are nominated for the Best Southeast Asia Act where they will be competing against Lyodora of Indonesia, Ink Waruntorn of Thailand, Naim Daniel of Malaysia, JJ Lin of Singapore, and K-ICM of Vietnam. SB19 is the only Filipino nominee in the category.
The group also announced this on their social media accounts, saying, “Muli po nating iwagaygay ang ating watawat, Pilipinas (Let’s wave our flag again, Philippines)!
Last year, it was Pinoy folk-pop band Ben&Ben that was nominated in the category.
This year’s MTV EMAs will be held at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Hungary on November 14. The casting of votes will be until November 10 via MTV EMA’s website.
In April, SB19 became the first Filipino act that was nominated for the Top Social Artist category in the 2021 BBMAs, where they were joined by K-pop groups BTS, BLACKPINK and Seventeen, and American pop star Ariana Grande. Although they did not win the award, the five-piece boy band earlier said that they were very happy for such a ‘huge achievement’ and that they were ‘very lucky’ to be with their fans, collectively known as A’TIN, throughout that journey.

Their MTV EMAs’ nomination came a few days before they mark their third anniversary as a group. It will be a month-long celebration for SB19 and A’TIN, which will begin on October 26 until November 28.
A special announcement by the P-pop stars will be made on October 23 at 10 PM (Philippine time), based on their anniversary month checklist.
