NoKor fires ballistic missile toward East Sea
SEOUL – North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile into the eastern waters, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said Tuesday.
The JCS, in a statement, said the South Korean military spotted one unidentified ballistic missile, which Pyongyang launched towards the East Sea from the vicinity of Sinpo, North Hamgyong province in northeastern North Korea.
It noted that the intelligence authorities of South Korea and the United States were analyzing further details on the missile, saying the South Korean military was closely monitoring the relevant situation and maintaining readiness posture under the close cooperation with the United States to prepare for possible further launches.
The South Korean presidential Blue House said it will hold a National Security Council (NSC) meeting in the morning in response to Pyongyang’s missile launch.
