Another 2.9K patients beat Covid-19; PH recovery rate at 93%
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported a total of 2,972 new recoveries, raising the country’s total recovery count to 1,053,523 or 93.1 percent of all coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in the country.
In its daily bulletin, the DOH reported 6,784 new cases, with active cases now at 58,986 or 5.2 percent of the total 1,131,467 cases since the start of the pandemic last year.
Of the active cases, it said the majority at 93.5 percent have mild symptoms, followed by the asymptomatic at 2.3 percent, those with severe symptoms at 1.8 percent, those in critical condition at 1.3 percent, and those with moderate symptoms at 1.13 percent.
It also reported 137 new deaths, with the country’s total casualties due to Covid-19 now at 18,958.
A total of 46,034 individuals were tested for Covid-19 on Thursday, with 13.1 percent found infected.
Meanwhile, hospital facilities for those infected in the National Capital Region (NCR) remain steady, with the region’s 700 beds at intensive care units (ICU) at 61 percent occupancy, 3,800 isolation beds at 44 percent occupancy, 2,200 ward beds at 48 percent occupancy, and only 46 percent of its 800 ventilators are in use.
For the whole country, a total of 1,900 ICU beds are at 59 percent occupancy, 13,600 isolation beds at 44 percent occupancy, 6,000 ward beds at 48 percent occupancy, and only 40 percent of 2,000 ventilators are in use.
