Wage hike petitions pending in 3 regions
MANILA – Three active wage hike petitions are pending in three regions, an official of the National Wage and Productivity Commission (NWPC) said on Monday.
NWPC Executive Director Criselda Sy said the petitions are filed in the National Capital Region (NCR), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), and Region 11 (Davao Region).
Sy said the petitions are being looked into by the respective Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs).
“In the NCR, the board has yet to issue a decision on the petition filed by Unity for Wage Increase Alliance (U-Win) in 2019. The board continues to evaluate,” she said in a virtual forum. “The board will make its decision on the time it is appropriate to already issue a decision.”
The group is asking for a PHP213 daily minimum-wage hike in the NCR.
In Cagayan Valley, the Unyon ng mga Manggagawa sa Agrikultura filed on April 15 a PHP100 emergency wage relief.
The United Pantaron Banana Workers Union-Association of Democratic Labor Organization-Kilusang Mayo Uno refiled a verified petition asking for a minimum wage increase of PHP100 per day increase for agricultural and non-agricultural sectors in Davao del Norte.
Sy said the group refiled the verified petition on April 20 after the initial petition was found non-compliant.
Daily minimum wages in the NCR are PHP500-PHP537; PHP345-PHP370 in Region 2 and PHP381-PHP396 in Region 11.
