DOLE to hold online job fair, summit on Labor Day
MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will hold a nationwide online job fair and job summit on May 1, Labor Day.
“We are preparing for an extensive job fair on May 1, and all of our regional offices and Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) as well the employers who will participate are gathering different job vacancies for the event,” said Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay in a Laging Handa briefing on Friday.
She added that a job summit will also be held which aims to “recover the employment that has been lost due to the pandemic” and for the business groups, labor groups, and the government to present the employment recovery agenda.
She said the public may visit the Trabaho Negosyo Kabuhayan (TNK) web page under the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) which can be accessed at ble.dole.gov.ph.
“They can also visit our official social media pages particularly our Facebook account. They can also ask the Public Employment Service Offices of the local government units (LGUs) in every municipality, city, and province near them,” Tutay added.
The events will be held online as mass gatherings remain prohibited amid the surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.
“Our job fair will be different this year because of the pandemic, gatherings are not allowed so the DOLE in coordination with the PESO will be holding a job fair online,” she added.
Before the pandemic, the annual event is held simultaneously in big venues where the main celebration is happening in Metro Manila.
