551 new Covid-19 recoveries raise total to 459K: DOH
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 551 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), raising the total recoveries to 459,737 or 92.6 percent of all Covid-19 infections in the country.
In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH also reported 2,048 new cases, with active cases now at 27,033 or 5.4 percent of all Covid-19 infections.
Bulacan reported the highest number of new infections with 98, followed by Davao City with 89, Pangasinan with 84, the city of Manila with 80, and Leyte with 73.
Of the active cases, the majority at 84.5 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, followed by the asymptomatic at 7.4 percent, those in critical condition at 4.9 percent, those with severe symptoms at 2.8 percent, and those with moderate symptoms at 0.42 percent.
Some 137 new deaths from Covid-19 were also reported, bringing the country’s death toll to 9,876 or 1.99 percent of all Covid-19 infections in the country.
Many of the country’s Covid-19 facilities remain available, with 60 percent of 2,100 beds at intensive care units (ICU) unoccupied, 62 percent of 16,400 isolation beds still available, 73 percent of 8,000 ward beds unoccupied, and 78 percent of the country’s 2,100 ventilators not in use.
Following the first reported case of the new variant of Covid-19 in Quezon City, the DOH called on the public to continue following the “BIDA Solusyon” minimum public health standards such as always wearing face masks and shields, proper physical distancing, and regular hand washing or sanitizing after touching any objects.
