A song about ‘self-acceptance:’ Ben&Ben’s ‘Di Ka Sayang’ is here!
While it is okay for people to not feel okay with themselves sometimes, perhaps having many unanswered questions floating in their minds, it is good to have a constant reminder that tells them that they are worth it no matter what happens.
Titled “Di Ka Sayang,” Filipino band Ben&Ben dropped their latest single on early Friday, November 6, which reminds listeners about “self-acceptance and embracing who you are.” This, they said, is the “first single of the new era.”
The band initially released the song on their official Facebook page because of problems they encountered with streaming platforms.
Miguel Benjamin Guico, the other half of the band’s twin vocalists, shared on Twitter that they were as excited as their fans, collectively known as “Liwanag,” to drop the song at midnight, but unexpectedly, they happened to have technical errors in some platforms. Wanting things to go as planned, the band, Miguel said, immediately looked for a way to release the song even temporarily on Facebook.
“Then finally naging impromptu listening party na lang with everyone joining in nung finally nakaupload na (Then finally it became an impromptu listening party with everyone joining in when it is finally uploaded),” he tweeted.
The song posted on their Facebook page has 69,000 shares, as of writing.
Miguel expressed gratitude to those who waited with them for the song’s release.
“Liwanag, now that we’re entering this new era together, gusto ko lang magpasalamat. Kung bago ka mang listener o dati ka pang nakikinig (I just want to thank you. Whether you are a new listener or you have been our listener), thank u for walking with us,” he said.
“We promise to always do our best to be there for you through our music. Labyu (Love you) all,” he added.
His twin brother, Paolo, also said they were eager to drop “Di Ka Sayang” so that their listeners would feel uplifted before ending their day.
“Gusto naming bago ka matulog, malaman mo (Before you go to sleep, we want you to know that): you are VALID, you are LOVED, and you are ENOUGH,” Paolo tweeted.
Ben&Ben ended the first season of their BBTV series on YouTube last September with a video of a lo-fi, slowed down version of their song “Lifetime.” The band said they will be “focusing on writing the 2nd album.”
But this is not the end of the online series as the band reminded their fans to “watch out for season 2.”
