PH Covid-19 recoveries up almost 15K to 310,158
MANILA – A total of 14,941 new recovered cases were reported on Sunday, pushing the overall tally of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) recoveries nationwide to 310,158.
In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 2,379 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 39,808.
Of the active cases, about 82.8 percent are mild, 11.5 percent are asymptomatic, 1.9 percent are severe, and 3.7 percent are in critical condition.
The majority of the newly announced cases are from the Quezon City with 172, Rizal with 147, Bulacan with 136, Caloocan City with 117, and Cavite with 101 infections.
The DOH also reported some 50 deaths, which brings the death toll to 6,652.
Of the 83 deaths, 18 or 36 percent occurred in October, 14 or 28 percent in September, 8 or 16 percent in August, six or 12 percent in July, and four or 8 percent in June.
“Some 99 duplicates were removed from the total case count and 84 of these were recovered cases. Moreover, 11 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.
As of Saturday, the 112 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratories and 35 licensed GeneXpert laboratories have conducted a total of 4,106,475 tests nationwide.
DOH said it has 20,600 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
Occupied are about 46 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 42 percent of 13,200 isolation beds; and 41 percent of 5,500 ward beds.
About 22 percent of 2,000 ventilators are in use.
