Binay says he is ready for lifestyle checks
MANILA – Amid corruption allegations thrown at him, Vice President Jejomar Binay on Monday said that he and his family were open to any lifestyle check.
Binay made the statement declaring that his political rivals redrafted previous graft and corruption cases against him to intensify their vilification campaign.
He was responding to a proposal by the United Makati against Corruption (Umac) daring him and his family to undergo a lifestyle check.
The demand was also in time for the recent corruption allegations against the vice president, including the issues of him receiving kickbacks from the allegedly overpriced construction of the Makati City Hall Building II.
Binay made reference to a story aired by ABS-CBN about the alleged undisclosed properties owned by Finance Secretary Cesar Purisma.
This was after a reporter asked him if he is willing to do a lifestyle check, and Binay immediately replied “yes.”
