Metro Central supermarket employee at Windsor tests positive for COVID-19
A Metro Central grocery store in Windsor was notified that one of its employees tested for the deadly coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It is the first Metro Inc.-owned business in Windsor to report a case.
Metro Inc. was notified on July 31 that one of its employees from its chain at 3663 Tecumseh Rd., E Windsor was infected with the virus, with the individual’s last day of work being on the same date.
This, as tracked in the corporate website’s COVID-19 cases update.
“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” Metro said as parts of its bid for transparency.
It also emphasized that it will not disclose any other information about the identities of those who tested positive for the virus.
“Out of respect and for confidentiality reasons, we will never release any personal information about persons who are infected. We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety, and the safety of our customers as well. Where required, we will communicate with customers who have shopped in the impacted location to manage the situation,” it said.
Metro added that when a case is reported, they deep clean and sanitize the location.
