DFA reports lone Filipino Covid-19 case abroad
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday reported one coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) case in the Middle East, raising the total number of Filipinos infected with the disease to 9,305.
The DFA also registered six new recoveries in the Asia Pacific and two new fatalities in the Middle East, bringing the overall tally to 5,426 and 655, respectively.
The Middle East/Africa region has the highest confirmed cases among overseas Filipinos, including recoveries and fatalities.
To date, there are 6,636 infections among Filipinos in the region, 3,872 recoveries, and 383 deaths.
This is followed by Europe with 1,091 diagnosed Filipinos, 488 of whom are active cases and 95 have died.
“The DFA personnel in our foreign service posts continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home,” the DFA said.
On Monday, the Philippine government repatriated the remains of 54 deceased overseas Filipinos from Saudi Arabia, the third batch since the first ones arrived early this month.
