She played as Alex Salazar from “Four Sisters and a Wedding,” Lyka Raymundo from “Lobo,” and Alwina from “Mulawin.” But her titular role as Darna has definitely been attached to Angel Locsin as a director shares how she’s a real hero even behind the cameras.

Television Director, Lester Pimentel Ong chose to use social media to share his story and his “experience working with this person.”

In a Facebook post, Lester wrote about that one time when one of the stuntmen got heavily injured in a non-work-related accident.

Naputol ang pinakamalaking buto niya sa hita (The biggest bone in his thigh was injured),” he said, adding that the stuntman got hospitalized in an orthopedic center for more than a month. Unfortunately, this incident ate his savings and there was a big chance that he cannot walk anymore because according to the director, the stuntman cannot afford the needed operations after.

“One late night ng konti na lang tao sa public hospital kung saan naka-confine si injured stuntman, dumating siya kasama lang ang driver niya…kinumusta si stuntman (with only a few people in the public hospital where injured stuntman was confined, she arrived with only her driver with her, asked how the stuntman is doing), consoled his wife and mom, then asked the person in charge of the hospital how much was the accumulated bill at magkano pa ang kakailanganin para makalakad pa ulit si stuntman (and how much more is needed for the stuntman to be able to walk again),” Lester further wrote.

After paying the bill and some words of encouragement to the family, “she left.”

Siya si (She is) Angel Locsin, she is the real life Darna…hero sya kahit sa likod ng camera, kahit walang nakatingin at walang nakakaalam… (She is a hero even behind the camera, even if no one is looking and no one knows),” the director continued, saying that he really needed to share this story.

This is not the first-time for Angel to be likened to the Filipina superhero as she has been seen helping in different calamities and tragedies that the country is facing through physically donating and distributing relief packs. She has also been recognized by Forbes Magazine in its Asia’s 2019 Heroes of Philanthropy: Catalysts For Change.

“Over the past decade, Locsin has donated as much as 15 million pesos to causes such as educational scholarships for students, supporting the economic and political rights of indigenous people, and ending violence against women and children,” Forbes wrote.
