MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) welcomes the National Task Force (NTF) for Covid-19’s decision to increase the number of inbound international passengers allowed daily in three of the country’s major airports, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said Friday.

“This signifies that inch by inch, the industry is getting back to normal,” he told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

In a letter addressed to CAAP director-general Jim Sydiongco that was released on Friday, the NTF allowed a maximum of 3,000 daily inbound international passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), and 1,500 each at the Clark International Airport (CIA) and the Mactan – Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

“This is still subject to the airports’ (Covid-19) testing capacity,” Apolonio clarified.

He said the notice to airmen that the CAAP earlier released with regards to inbound passenger restriction would now be lifted.

Only NAIA, CIA, and MCIA are currently receiving international flights, he added.

Meanwhile, Malacañang on Friday also announced that foreigners who have existing or long-term visas could visit the Philippines starting August 1.

No new entry visa, however, would be accepted.
