MANILA — Manny Pacquiao is reportedly back to training mode in preparation for his fight with unbeaten American boxer Chris Algieri.

Slated on November 23 in Macau, the fight is in defense of Pacquiao’s World Boxing Organization welterweight crown.

“He projected a positive aura,” said Filipino coach Buboy Fernandez when asked how Pacquiao’s first light training session was.

“He was always smiling.”

Fernandez is currently in charge of the Filipino boxing champ’s training until Freddie Roach arrives on October 6. He shared that Pacquiao had four-round mitts session, shadow boxing, speedball exercise, and sit-up during his first training.

“I didn’t make him skip ropes,” said Fernandez.

After a thorough analysis of Algieri’s previous fights, Fernandez shared that they are partial to use Pacquiao’s blueprint training when he fought Antonio Margarito.

“Algieri is nearly as tall and as long as Margarito,” said Fernandez. “Their only difference is that Margarito counters when cornered in the ropes and Algieri doesn’t.”

He also mentioned that they cannot afford to go gentle on Algieri given that he has a strong uppercut and left hook.
