Recoveries almost 30% of total Pinoy cases abroad: DFA

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday said the recovery among overseas Filipinos with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) now comprises almost 30 percent of the total confirmed cases, which stands at 2,233.

Latest DFA data showed 25 new recoveries, raising the overall tally to 669.

“Based on the latest figures, the total number of Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 at 669 remains more than twice than the total fatalities and is now almost 30 percent  of the total confirmed cases,” Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez said.

Meñez also said 38 new confirmed cases and one new death were registered in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and the Middle East.
No new reports were received from the Americas.

The death toll stands at 261 – two in the Asia-Pacific region, 79 in Europe, 38 in the Middle East/Africa, and 142 in the Americas.

Of the total confirmed cases, 393 were logged in the Asia-Pacific region, 668 in Europe, 643 in the Middle East/Africa, and 529 in the Americas.

Meanwhile, the repatriation of Filipinos affected by the pandemic resumed on Monday with the return of some 299 nationals from the United Kingdom.

Citing the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases Resolution 30 dated April 29, the agency reminded “all Filipinos and foreign nationals” arriving from abroad about the mandatory facility-based quarantine and Covid-19 testing.
