Star Magic Ball 2014 couture extravaganza

MANILA – The famous and beautiful came out to shine in full force, and to witness who among them would come away with the special awards of the night at the Star Magic Ball 2014.

Actors, actresses and special guests of network giant ABS-CBN’s training and management arm, Star Magic, were bedecked and bejeweled to the nines, as they strutted their stuff on the red carpet of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. They dazzled as only celebrities can, turning heads everywhere they went on that glittery “black, white and silver” (this year’s motif) night of September 6.

Jessy Mendiola

A few mishaps along the way – such as Jessy Mendiola’s tripping and falling as she climbed upstairs to the party hall – did nothing to tarnish the sparkle of the occasion. Despite the minor ever-so momentary loss of poise, Jessy wowed them all in a regal black bustier ball gown.

Even a sprained ankle did not stop Daniel Padilla from standing out in a red suit, chunky jewelry and gentleman’s cane; with his date, Kathryn Bernardo in arm, looking simply stunning in a white feather ball gown.

Equally wonderful in white, Heart Evangelista elicited oooh’s and aaah’s in a nymph-like appliqué of leaves, cascading into a  serpentina–tyle skirt. She was, of course, escorted by dashing politician-fiancé, Senator Chiz Escudero.

Enchong Dee and Samantha Lewis

Enchong Dee made the night even more special by finally revealing the identity of his lady love, Samantha Lewis, who was statuesque in a black, shimmery Galliano-inspired number.

Awarded “Best Dressed Female” of the evening, young actress Julia Barretto was ethereal in a Rajo Laurel white crystal-encrusted bustier ballgown.

Among some of the night’s awards: Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz were awarded “Couple of the Night”, Iza Calzado and Piolo Pascual received the Moet and Chandon “Fabulous Pair of the Night”, and Paolo Avenido (in a dashing Dolce and Gabbana suit) was deemed “Best Dressed Male.”

The red carpet event was hosted by Gretchen Fullido, Marie Lozano and Ginger Conejero, while reigning Miss International Bea Rose Santiago hosted the main event.
