Makati graduates to get cash incentives from local gov’t
MANILA – Elementary and senior high school graduates in Makati City will receive PHP1,000 to PHP5,000 cash incentives from the local government, Mayor Abigail Binay announced Tuesday.
In a statement, Binay said cash incentives will be given to about 11,713 Grade 6 and Grade 12 students who have graduated from public schools in the city.
A PHP1,000 cash incentive, she said, will be given to students without honors; PHP2,000 will be given to students with honors; PHP3,000 to students with high honors; and PHP5,000 to students with the highest honors.
The approved incentive program, she added, will be received by the beneficiaries’ guardians through a “contactless method” or an electronic money transfer, as part of the measures of the local government amid the coronavirus outbreak.
She said beneficiaries may cash out or withdraw the financial assistance through a GCash application.
To receive the cash incentives, the target beneficiaries are urged to log-in to the Student Portal, www.proudmakatizen.com, the guardians must type the student’s 12-digit Learner Reference Number (LRN), and look for the student profile, which will automatically pop-out upon typing the LRN.
There are two options on how to get the cash incentives.
The first one is through the GCash electronic money transfer. The financial assistance will be received within three days upon the registration.
The second option is to receive the cash incentive personally in the school, after the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine is already lifted.
Based on the data of the Makati’s education department, there are 7,207 Grade 6 students and 5,506 Grade 12 students who have graduated this year.
