Vancouver COVID-19 Care Packages Fundraiser

Published

on

Everyone has been dealing with the difficult times with COVID-19. We (power of threee – 3 sisters) wanted to do something positive within their community. I launched the Covid-19 Care Packages and the GoFundMe link on April 9, 2020.

Meanwhile, my sister, Sammie Jo, is part of the Tulayan organization that helps connects Filipino generations with each other. We wanted to reach out to the seniors, single parents and those who are at high-risk and give them a care package.

While Sammie Jo was compiling a list – I, (Vinelli) and my other sister, Kim, went to Costco and started bulk buying products to put together. In only a few days we already had donations of $875 and have created and delivered 21 packages.

With the project being “live” for a few days, we had businesses reach out to us to see if they could also make donations.

Aling Mary’s donated pandesal and rice and Sayatee The Brand – donated their proceeds towards their shirts to our cause.

It’s been a beautiful project that has helped connect people during these very distancing times.

A few days later News 1130 featured our project and as of April 22, 2020, we have created and delivered 149 packages and the amount of care packages are still heavily increasing!

Some things we regularly need when creating these Care Packages are:

1. Brand new reusable bags (to use for the care packages)
2. Masks/Gloves (when prepping and delivering)
3. Lysol Wipes (cleaning the products and the assembly line)
