MANILA – The Philippine Embassy in Seoul reported Thursday that one of the four Filipinos with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in South Korea recovered and has been discharged from the hospital.

The three remaining Filipino patients are undergoing treatment.

They are being taken care of by Korean hospital authorities and the embassy is coordinating with them to monitor the Filipinos’ situation),” Embassy chargé d’affaires Christian de Jesus said during the Laging Handa briefing.

As of January 2020, there are approximately 58,429 Filipinos in South Korea.

De Jesus said the number of new Covid-19 infections in South Korea has decreased since a mass testing campaign was launched.

Within the week, there had been a huge improvement on the decrease of new Covid-19 cases. Yesterday, eight new cases were reported meaning the situation here continues to improve),” he added.

Based on the April 22 data of the World Health Organization, South Korea has 10,694 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 238 of whom have died.
