DFA: 30 new Covid-19 cases, 26 recoveries among Pinoys abroad
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday recorded 30 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total number to 1,114.
“Of the 42 countries and regions with confirmed Covid-19 cases among overseas Filipinos, the DFA reports a total of 30 new cases, 26 new recoveries, and 6 new deaths in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, and Middle East/Africa as of today,” DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez said in a statement.
Around 660 Filipinos are undergoing treatment while 295 already recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.
The death toll among Filipino overseas, on the other hand, has increased to 159 — two from the Asia Pacific, 57 from Europe, 12 in the Middle East/Africa, and 88 in the American region.
Currently, the number of confirmed cases in Asia Pacific region stands at 299, at least 374 in Europe, 162 in Middle East/Africa, and 279 in the American region.
“With the shared global goal of ‘flattening the curve’ of Covid-19 pandemic, the DFA personnel in our foreign service posts continue to partner with local health authorities and agencies in ensuring proper implementation of preventive measures and restrictions, and commit to attending to the needs of our people affected by this pandemic,” Meñez said.
