255 Filipinos with Covid-19 abroad recovered
MANILA – A total of 255 of the 868 Filipinos with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad has recovered, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday.
“To date, almost 20 percent of the 213 countries, areas or territories reported in the WHO [World Health Organization} Situation Report as of 17 April have confirmed COVID-19 cases among our nationals abroad,” DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez said in a statement.
The 31 new confirmed cases on Saturday are from the Americas, Europe, and Asia and the Pacific (ASPAC) while the nine new deaths are from the Americas and ASPAC.
As of posting, there are 498 Filipinos undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the total number of deaths is 115– two from the ASPAC, 33 from Europe, seven in the Middle East/Africa, and 73 in the American region.
“Rest assured that efforts to assist and ensure the welfare of our Overseas Filipinos will continue. Moreover, we reiterate that those who wish to return to the Philippines in this time of pandemic should coordinate with the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate,” Meñez said.
