Short film ‘Basurero’ starring Jericho Rosales to compete in Europe

Jericho Rosales proudly shared that the short film “Basurero” that he starred in will be competing globally once again.

“Our short film Basurero has been selected as an official entry for the @tamperefilmfestival in Finland!” This was Jericho’s announcement on Instagram, accompanying some photos of him filling in the shoes of “Bong,” his role as a fisherman in the short film.

He also congratulated the director Eileen Cabiling and the rest of the crew for the accomplishment.

“Thank you for sharing your voice to speak for those who cannot,” he added.

This is not the first time for the film to compete outside the country when it also did in the 24th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea last year.

The film’s social media pages said in a post that Basurero “will have its European Premiere and be in Competition at The 50t Tampere Film Festival this March 4th-8th 2020.”

“Tampere Film Festival is ranked amongst the top three most important short film festivals in the world, attracting over 30 000 visitors and hundreds of international guests,” it added.

Basurero, literally translated as “garbage man” follows the story of a fisherman who struggles with poverty in addition to being a family man with wife and kids. His need for money turns to desperation when he chooses to take another job, which is to dump dead bodies in the sea. It is a story about his battle between his conscience and the need to make a living.
