MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday assured that all the necessary assistance will be provided to the two Filipinos who were sentenced to death by a court in Vietnam for drug-trafficking.

“We would like to assure the families of the two Filipinos that we continue to closely monitor the cases and provide updates on the appeal proceedings,” said DFA spokesman Charles Jose.

The DFA, through its embassy in Hanoi, he said, has been extending assistance to the Filipinos since the time of their arrests.

Moreover, jail visits have been conducted and that private lawyers were hired to help in their legal defense, Jose said.
