MANILA — Most parts of the country will continue to experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers in the next 24 hours due to the low-pressure area (LPA) off the Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Fernando Cada said that as of 4 p.

m. Thursday, the LPA was estimated based on all available data at the vicinity of Tagbilaran City, Bohol (9.8ºN 124.0ºE).

Based on the agency’s numerical models, Cada said the LPA has a slim chance to become a tropical depression as its cloud bands already disorganized as it neared the landmass.

With this development, Cada said that due to the trough or extended cloudines of the LPA, it will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers over Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Bicol Region, Central Luzon, the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao until Friday.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Cada also said that no gale warning was issued so sea travel will be safe for fisherfolk and small seacraft.
