Spotify PH reveals: Eraserheads, Sarah Geronimo most streamed OPM artists
MANILA, Philippines – Music streaming service Spotify recently revealed that two of the most streamed OPM artists on their site are rock band Eraserheads and pop singer Sarah Geronimo.
Eraserheads topped the list of OPM artists streamed most frequently within the months of July to August, while Sarah Geronimo came in second, and MYMP took third spot. Rounding out the top ten places are Up Dharma Down (4th), Rivermaya (5th), Regine Velasquez (6th), Toni Gonzaga (7th), Gary Valenciano (8th), Juris (9th), and Lani Misalucha (10th).
On the other hand, Sarah Geronimo’s rendition of the song “Maybe This Time” is Spotify’s most streamed OPM track from April to July. This was followed by “Tadhana” (Up Dharma Down) which came in at 2nd; “Diwata” (Abra), ranking 3rd; “Starting Over Again” (Lani Misalucha) at 4th; “Ikot-Ikot” (Sarah Geronimo), 5th; “Pare Ko” (Eraserheads), 6th; “Ang Huling El Bimbo” (Eraserheads) 7th; “Indak” (Up Dharma Down), 8th; “Dahan-Dahan” (Maja Salvador), 9th; “Ligaya” (Eraserheads), 10th.
The top ten most streamed international acts on Spotify Philippines are: Boyce Avenue (1st), Katy Perry (2nd), Coldplay (3rd), Jason Derulo (4th), Taylor Swift (5th), John Legend (6th), Ed Sheeran (7th), OneRepublic (8th), One Direction (9th), and Maroon 5 (10th).
Sunita Kaur, Managing Director of Spotify Asia says that the Philippines is one of their “fastest-growing markets in the region,” with 56 percent of music fans using the service falling into the age group of 24 and below.
“We hope to become the best alternative to music piracy in the country as we offer Pinoys free and legal access to over 30 million tracks,” she added.
“Our latest data confirms that Pinoys take pride in their homegrown artists,” Ms. Kaur noted.
