Comedienne Ethel Booba turned emotional on the noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” as she revealed that she is six months pregnant.

She shared with the world this good news on Friday, November 15, as she returns to the show’s stage after emerging as the celebrity grand champion of “Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT)” last week.

The admission, perhaps, would not happen if it was not because of host Vice Ganda’s teasing.

Vice first told the audience to watch out for Ethel’s upcoming single under TNT Records.

He then told Ethel in jest, “Eh kaya lang may nakalagay sa kontrata. Magkakaroon ka ng single, pero dapat single ka rin (But there’s something stated in the contract. You will have your single, but you will stay single).”

This prompted the grand champ to blurt out, “Hindi pwede. Magiging triple na nga eh (That can’t be. We’re becoming triple),” making Vice scream in excitement.

The other hosts, however, seemed puzzled about whether the announcement was true or not.

Ethel then said, “Alam mo naiiyak tuloy ako (You know I’m getting teary-eyed). I’m happy for the gift of life…” She was having an emotional moment as she uttered those words but she quickly turned back from it with a joke.

“Nakapanganak na talaga ako (I have already given birth), actually,” she said, drawing laughter from the hosts.

“Nakapanganak na siya pero ngayon niya pa lang ipagbubuntis. Baliktad pagkatao niya, ‘di ba (She gave birth already but she just got pregnant. Her personality is reversed, right)?” Vice chimed in, adding to Ethel’s humor.

To clarify what was really going on, Ethel said it was hard for her to sing because she felt like “parang lalabas ‘yung bahay bata ko (I thought my uterus will come out).”

Realizing that her being pregnant is true, the hosts congratulated Ethel, with the audience giving her cheers and applause.

“Double celebration, double congratulations to me.

Ito na nga, six months [pregnant na ako] (This is it. I’m six months [pregnant]),” she said.

Ethel sincerely apologized for not being able to give out her best when she performed again on the show.

“Pasensiya na, hindi ako makabuga ang sakit talaga ng puson ko.

Pinilit ko lang talaga (I’m sorry, I can’t really sing well because my belly is aching. I just forced it),” she said.

The comedienne is expecting her first child with her non-showbiz boyfriend Jessie Salazar. The two have been together since 2017.
