Tanong No. 2 (Series 2)

ANO ANG SURVIVAL?

 

Sabi-Sabi:  Instinct lang ang survival.

 

Marahil ang pinaka-common phrase na alam natin na kung saan ginamit ang word na survival ay ang – “Survival of the fittest.”

Sa ating mga Pinoy, simple lang ang translation n’yan – “Matira ang matibay.”

Ang magtatagal ang maiiwan o mananatiling buhay at nakatayo ay ‘yung pinakakarapat-dapat lamang.  At ang karapat-dapat lang ay ‘yung mga nag-e-exert ng effort. Nagsusumikap, nagpapakatatag, at lumalaban.

Sa totoo lang, ang buong buhay ng bawat tao ay isang fight for survival.  Ang buhay ay isang pakikibaka.  Mayaman, mahirap, pare-pareho lang na may mga laban na dapat harapin.  Parang mas mabigat nga lang ang kinakaharap ng mga mas kapus-palad o wala dahil kulang ang puhunan, kulang ang bala.

What I am saying is – ang kahulugan ng salitang survival ay iisa lang, maging ano man ang antas ng ating buhay o saan man tayo naroon.  Ang mga katangian ng tao na mahalaga sa proseso ng survival ay pare-pareho lang din.  Mahina, malakas, mabilis, mabagal. Iisa lang ang importante – desisyon.

Sa mga nangingibang-bansa, may mayaman, may mahirap. May maraming dalang baon, may konti lang ang baon.  But in time, ang baon na iyan ay mauubos.  Sa puntong iyon, ang meron o wala ay kailangang mag-desisyon kung gusto nyang mag-stay o manatili sa pakikipagsapalaran sa banyagang bansa.

So, simple lang ang definition ng survival from the point of view ng isang foreign worker o immigrant, isa itong desisyon; isang mabigat na desisyon.

Upang magawa mo ang isang seryosong desisyon na ganito – make sure malalim at malinaw ang dahilan kung bakit ka napadpad sa sitwasyong ito, sitwasyong kinailangan mong gumawa ng desisyong magbabago sa buong buhay mo at ng iyong pamilya, whether for better or for worse, but hopefully for better.

 

Ang Totoo:  Sa pangingibang-bansa, survival is a decision, hindi instinct. Ito ay isang mahalaga at mabigat na desisyon.
