New ambassador to assume post
Charge d’ Affaires (CDA) Eric Gerardo Tamayo recently announced that ambassador-designate Petronila P. Garcia is arriving to assume her post as ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Canada.
Tamayo said, “Filipino community leaders in Ottawa are cordially invited to a casual meet-and-greet with the ambassador from 5:30 to 8 p.m., on Aug. 29 at the Embassy of the Philippines, Suite 901, 130 Albert St.” He added that during said event, the embassy will launch the Winter Escapade 2 program.
Tamayo also conveyed his gratitude for the community’s support during his tenure as CDA.
Amb. Garcia served as assistant secretary of the Office of Middle East and African Affairs since September 2011 until her appointment as Ambassador to Canada.
She held various positions in Philippine diplomatic and consular missions in Tel Aviv, Israel; Cairo, Egypt; Seoul, Korea; Pretoria, South Africa; Sydney, Australia, and Singapore.
